Cybis was selected to create Canada's wedding gift to Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. Entitled "Eskimo Mother", the 10-inch-high sculpture portrays an Eskimo legend about a woman who raised a polar bear as her son, resulting in his enduring friendliness toward humans. Depicted in porcelain, the mother pets the cub while her own small infant is cradled in her hood and a sled dog noses her hand.
